Un poco di Vaticano, un poco di Castel Sant’ Angelo e un poco de insalata tropicana

Today we spend most of the day in the Vatican area.

Basilica S. Pietro

On every last Sunday of a month you don’t have to buy tickets to visit the museums of the Vatican. That is why we decided to be there when the museums open. It turned out that we weren’t the only ones with such glourious idea. It took us about one hour to get in. To be honest I expected it to last far more than that after seeing the huge line that didn’t want to ‘come’ an end.

I will upload some pictures I took inside of the museums as soon as I get home.

After a short pizza break in the Vatican restaurant we headed to the Basilica S. Pietro. If you want to go inside keep in mind that this is a sacred place and they won’t let you enter it while wearing some shorts or a top. Bring a cardigan to put on or avoid clothing that aren’t appropriate in a church.
The most amazing view of entire Rom can be seen from the dome of the Basilica. It is truly breathtaking as well as the walk up there 😀 .
You can choose between two options how to get there. The first one for 5 euros would be to climb about 500 stairs. We decided to take option two for 7 euros that combines taking the elevator and climbing the last 300 stairs.

After that we took a break at the Piazza and headed to the Castel Sant’ Angelo right after grabbing some water and fruits.
We laid down in the lovely parc right behind the castle and enjoyed the wonderful weather in a shadowy spot.

After nearly falling asleep we decided to eat for dinner and we stopped at a restaurant that was nearby. I had some insalata tropicala and my roommate had the insala capricciosa.

The last to do on my Rom list was to take some night shots of the Ponte Sant’ Angelo, the Basilica S. Pietro and the Colosseo. Which we did after sunset.

Again a lovely day in a beautiful city came to an end.
Take care 🙂
